This Is My Office to open in November with The Play Company
I’m thrilled to be collaborating with The Play Company on This Is My Office, am particularly excited to be part of a season that includes new plays by Jonas Hassen Khemiri and Toshiki Okada, writers whose works I greatly admire. This production will be site-specific, in a non-theatre space in midtown. David Barlow is playing “Andy”, and Davis McCallum is directing.
You can read more about the production on The Play Company’s website. I recommend getting tickets early; due to the nature of the piece, audiences will be kept small.
A reading of Don’t You Fucking Say a Word

A note on co-translation
I’ve been working with my longtime friend and colleague Kyoko Yoshida on a co-translation of Shu Matsui’s terrific play Proud Son. Desdemona Chiang is directing its first English language production at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. It runs from April 26 to 28. Here’s an extended version of the program note we’re including, exploring a moment in co-translation.
The Dowager to be workshopped in Minneapolis
I’m excited to be working on The Dowager, my play for one woman, at The Playwrights Center, as part of their Ruth Easton New Play Series. we have about 20 hours of rehearsal culminating in a public reading on Monday, April 1st at 7pm. Erik Pearson is directing, and Liz Wisan is playing Tanya. Hayley Finn interviewed me about this workshop here.
Don’t You F*cking Say a Word workshop this week!
This week, thanks to Justin Blanchard and Brooklyn Shakes, I’m workshopping a brand new play, “Don’t You Fucking Say a Word”, inspired by a heated moment I had on the tennis court a couple of years ago. I love this photo of McEnroe – his petulance in it, his frustration. In his tennis tantrums he did seem to turn into a two year old. Not pretty, and not right, but understandable!
The play is explored from the perspective of the men’s girlfriends. We have a terrific cast: Justin, Crystal Finn, David Ross and Molly Ward. Erik Pearson is directing. There’s a reading next Monday the 18th at 7pm in Williamsburg. Visit Brooklyn Shakes for more info!

Black Label, a podcast written for one of my favorite actors: James Urbaniak, for his monthly podcast Getting on With James Urbaniak. He brings on a different writer every month to write a version of him. Listen to this podcast, if you will (or rather can), at 3am, in the dark, on your grandmother’s transistor radio.
Vengeance Can Wait published by Samuel French
